Boom Boom Billy
Canadian Billy Bishop was the RFC's top scoring Ace of WWI with 72 victories. In this print Billy is flying his Nieport
17. Later, Billy flew an SE-5.
The First Battle of Britain
In June, 1917, the first
daylight bombing raid of London was carried out by 14 Gotha bombers led by Hauptman Ernst Brandenburg. The devastating raid met little aerial resistance, however a Bristol F2b flown by Capt. C.W.E. Cole-Hamilton made contact, resulting in the
loss of its observer, Capt. C.H. Keevil.
Fast and Furious
On July 19, 1918
seven Sopwith Camels flew from the deck of the HMS Furious - the first dedicated aircraft carrier in the world - and bombed the Zeppelin sheds at Tondern. This was the first successful bombing raid from an aircraft carrier.
Gotcha
Eddie Rickenbacker flys over a downed Fokker. Rickenbacker, with 26 victories, was
America's "Ace of Aces" in WWI.
