SIGHTING Before the pilots of the legendary
AmericanVolunteer Group could take to the skies against the enemy, the
all-important task of Bore Sighting the .30
caliber wing guns of their P-40s had to take place! The ingenious armorers
of the AVG were often forced to improvise, but as the Tigers' incredible
combat record can attest, these great Americans got the job done! Artist
John D. Shaw has recreated this scenario, featuring likenesses of actual
AVG
personnel, such as "Tex" Hill and armorer Chuck Baisden. Today
(October, 2007), less than two dozen of these great American heroes are
still with us.

HANG TOUGH, BASTOGNE 1944 December 24, 1944, North of Bastogne, Belgium…Within the Bois Jacques forest, paratroopers of Easy Company, 506th P.I.R., 101st Airborne, filter back to their foxholes having repelled an attack earlier in the day. On this frigid Christmas Eve, Lt. Dick Winters supports his men with his words: “Hang Tough.” Despite being surrounded and ill-equipped, the Band of Brothers would hold the line. Ultimately, the 101st Airborne would help turn the tide in the Battle of the Bulge. This is Shaw's second print featuring the original signatures of the men from Easy Company, featured in the HBO series of Steve Ambrose's book, Band of Brothers. John's first release "We Were a Band of Brothers” sold out in a few months and continues to be a sought-after print. |

OUT RUn the THUNDER For nearly a quarter century, Lockheed's
SR-71 Blackbird flew highly-classified missions all over the world,
gathering crucial intelligence for U.S. operations. Each highly-trained
crew of two, consiisting of Pilot and Reconnaissance Systems Officer
(RSO), geared up in pressure suits like those of astronauts, would
routinely fly into harm's way at well over Mach 3 into hostile environs
over 80,000 feet, as the aircraft surface temperature soared to nearly
600 degrees. |

THEY
FOUGHT with what THEY HAD Late November 1941, Clark Field, Philippine Islands...The U.S. Army Air Corps prepares for days of infamy ahead. Meagerly-equipped crews of the 19th Bomb Group prepare their B-17s for the day's practice missions, unaware that in mere days, Clark Field and other nearby U.S. bases would be savaged by enemy surprise attacks. Many would be taken prisoner, and some of those shown here, such as Colin Kelly and Jarl Pease, would gain tragic fame. The following American airmen, all veterans of the Philippines in
the earliest days of WWII, have signed some or all of these lithographs: |

THE MAGNIFICENT FIGHT Against terrible odds, strategically located Wake Island was defended by a handful of brave Americans during the opening 'days of infamy' in December, 1941. Isolated and alone against the might of the Japanese Navy, this intrepid group held their own on land and in the air for weeks, inspiring a nation and establishing fame for the Marine Corp. Now this valiant group has been honored in a beautiful, Limited-Edition lithograph by artist John D. Shaw. Each print has been personally autographed by the artist and veterans of this epic conflict, which truly was a Magnificent Fight. This lithograph honors all of the Americans who served at Wake Island so honorably in the opening days of the U.S. entry into World War II.

TIGERS in the gorge May, 1942 . . . thousands of refugees flee down the tortuous Burma Road toward Kunming, China to escape the advancing armored forces of Imperial Japan. With the armies of China devastated, it was evident that nothing but the winding Salween River at the bottom of the treacherous gorge could slow the enemy's surge toward the capitol city. |
