B-29s of the 499th Bomb Group, 73rd Bomb Wing of the 20th Air Force return from a daylight raid on Tokyo as their P-51 "Little Friend' escorts, low on fuel, peel off and return to base, leaving the Superfortresses to fend for themselves.

Each copy of "Valor in the Pacific" includes the 18" x 13.5" companion print "Fortress Under Attack", which is signed by two Medal of Honor Recipients, Jay Zeamer and Red Erwin.
