1947 Thunderbird
This print shows how it might have appeared if the USAF Thunderbirds had formed in 1947, when the P-51 Mustang was still king, instead of a few years later during the jet era. The point of view is from the #2 position of the diamond formation as they bank over an airshow crowd. If you take your eyes of your wing-man for second, you can see a P-38, a T-6, and another P-51 on the flightline below.

Lightning
Dick Bong, in his famous P-38 Lightning, "Marge", is shown in this dramatic print picking his way home through some very nasty weather. Hoping to avoid a lightning strike, he is racing for that blue patch of sky with which all pilots have become familiar with over the years.

Night Lights
The P38M was designed to meet the need for a speedy night fighter. A radar set and extra seat for the radar operator were added and the plane was painted overall gloss black.
